Vote Imara Crooms for Prince Georgeโs County Council, District 9
Organizer. Activist. Publicly Financed Democrat for local office. Power in the People. Pride in Our County. Progress that Belongs to All of Us.
Why Iโm Running
I'm running for a seat on County Council to put the skills I earned abroad to work at home, to make a better future locally for my daughter Aster, and to make sure Prince Georgeโs County works for all of us, not just the well-connected. Iโve spent my life organizing for justice, from promotion of democracy and good governance abroad to community organizing and activism at home.

Kicked off spooky season with our annual family trip to @montfarms for the Fall Festival ๐๐. Autumn is my favorite time of year, nothing beats pumpkins and apple cider donuts to get in the holiday spirit, as an added bonus my daughter went berserk for the CORN PIT ๐ฝ๐. Grateful for these local traditions!

Deepest thanks to the Greater Baden Aquasco Citizens Association (GBACA) for welcoming me at your latest meeting. For 25 years, GBACA has been at the grassroots core of our local democracy, serving neighbors with courage, dedication and vision. I’m grateful for the chance to share my campaign and for your thoughtful questions from development to data centers, and environmental stewardship. Conversations like these strengthen our democracy and our county โค๏ธ

Spent a beautiful day with my wife and daughter at National Public Lands Day, hosted by the @accokeek_foundation at Piscataway Park ๐ฟ. We joined neighbors in cleaning up the shore and beach, one small way to help preserve the beauty of our natural spaces for generations to come. Grateful for family time and for the community that makes it possible.

Had a great time at the Clinton Community Walk on 9/11 connecting with neighbors, chatting about local issues, and celebrating what makes our community strong.
Getting to know more folks in Clinton through canvassing this past month has been wonderful, every conversation is a reminder of why I’m running: to listen, to show up, and to put people first.

Had a wonderful time at Farm & Family Day with my folks, extra proud to support my wife at Briar Rose Apothecary table ๐นThe Farm Bureau always puts on events that are welcoming, family-focused, and full of genuine community spirit, no pretentiousness, just neighbors coming together. Grateful for spaces like these in South County!

Rain or shine, the past month of canvassing has been my favorite part of campaigning to date. ๐ฆ๏ธ Knocking doors, meeting neighbors, and hearing directly about the issues that matter most reminds me why I’m running: to build a government that listens and serves its people. #ImaraForPG #PeoplePoweredPolitics #princegeorgescounty

Big thanks to the District V Coffee Club for hosting me yesterday โ๏ธ. These gatherings are such an awesome example of civic engagement at the local level, neighbors coming together, asking questions, and building community. It’s exactly the kind of energy that makes Prince George’s strong. Grateful to be part of it! #ImaraForPG #PeoplePowered #princegeorgescounty

Big thanks to @delegatejamilajwoods for welcoming me to her “Coffee with Delegate Woods” event yesterday. Meeting the community at our local McDonald’s is such a down-to-earth, genuine example of real leadership and meeting folks where they are. More leaders should aspire to this kind of grassroots engagement. Grateful for the morning’s conversation and the connection. #ImaraForPG #CommunityFirst #GrassrootsLeadership
